CM Punk’s Troubled Relationship With His Blood Family
From WWE to AEW, CM Punk doesn’t get along with a lot of people. Sadly, he has a bad relationship with his family as well.

CM Punk has severed ties with many of his wrestling friends over the year, most notably Colt Cabana.
These two were once close to each other but then got into a dispute over legal fees which led to Cabana suing Punk.
The Cult of Personality is known for cutting people off over minor things, and this isn’t just limited to his real-life friends.
Even with his blood family, Punk doesn’t have a great relationship, and this might explain why he is the way he is.

This includes his father, mother, and well as his brother, Mark, whom most fans don’t know much about.
Punk has always been astraight edge, meaning he’s abstained from consuming alcohol or any other sort of drugs.
In his Best in the World documentary, Punk revealed that one time his dad was picking him up from a Little League game and during their ride, he puked in the car and Punk cried really hard because he thought his dad had gotten cancer.
He later realized that it was his alcohol dependency, which led to Punk living a straight-edge lifestyle. He’s even got “Drug Free” inked on his knuckles.
While Punk’s father was an alcoholic, he was never abusive towards Punk or the rest of his family.
Some fans may already know that Punk had started a backyard wrestling federation called Lunatic Wrestling Federation.
Punk had founded this promotion alongside his real-life brother Mike, Billy Whack, Supreme, and his former tag team partner, CM Venom.
The origin story of LWF is also quite interesting. Punk and his brother were at a comic store to get their monthly reserve, and Billy, who worked there, asked him if they were interested in working with them.
Eventually, the promotion took off and more and more people started attending their shows, so they started renting gymnasiums for their shows and also required a state license for it.
The real-life brothers had a falling out after Punk found out that Mike had been stealing a lot of money from LWF.
The Cult of Personality was shocked by this fraud and cut all ties with his brother and also stopped acknowledging him as one.
CM Venom, in his book, talked about this incident: “Phil took a good five count before he even moved from his static position. ‘He is not . . . my brother,’ he finally rasped out.”
In an interview with Chicago Tribute back in 2012, Punk talked about his family, including his brother, and said: “I don’t believe you have to be blood to be family, so I have a lot of family members. I have two sisters and a brother by blood. I talk to my sisters but haven’t talked to my brother in like 10 years. … I think I have always had to outsource for support or anything I want to do. The people who were willing to accept me with open arms weren’t blood related to me. To me, that’s what family is. Family supports you. So like my Mom, my Dad, my brother – the only thing my brother ever did to me was steal a (crap) load of money from me.”
CM Punk also had issues with his mother. In 2013, he filed a restraining order against her. She suffered from bipolar disorder and would constantly ask him for financial help.
Punk had already given her over $100,000 but she wanted more. When Punk refused, she threatened to commit suicide and expose embarrassing secrets about his past.
There were stories that it had something to do with Punk’s arrests in high school, but that’s not confirmed.
Punk’s mother also allegedly hadn’t been in touch with him since his high school days, but later reached out to him for money.
All in all, it’s safe to say that Punk’s childhood was pretty difficult, and he didn’t have a good relationship with any of his blood family.
Punk’s parents also didn’t give him much attention, as compared to his older brother, and this made him feel like he was adopted, so he left his house and started living with his best friend’s parents and became a part of their family.
